Welcome to PD HUB

PD Hub is the group entity responsible for performing the various professional services tasks required to complete infrastructure project work. The company has various engineering, sciences, built environment, as well as commercial expertise at its disposal. The projects conducted within the Hub are classified according to the divisions through which the various skills are channeled. Due to the varying nature of projects undertaken by the company, the skills used include but are not limited to the following disciplines:
We are in constant update of our skills database at the Hub, and we encourage our present and future associates and affiliates to update their credentials to allow optimal involvement in our projects throughout the African continent. We organize all our skills through our Engineering Professionals Network (EPN). We are also proud of our clients, affiliates and partners who constantly support our business, and we form a close knit family with them in pursuit of our common objectives.

Divisions

Infrastructure Project Services (IPS)

This division is responsible for performing the full spectrum of professional services needed in large infrastructure projects viz.: audits/reconnaissance, concept design, feasibility analysis, specifications, contract documentation, and construction monitoring.

Buildings, Interiors & Settlements (BIS)

This division is responsible for the complete integration of architectural, interiors, and building services experience to deliver a turnkey solution approach to the development of buildings.

Consumer Product Facilitation (CPF)

This division explores opportunities for job creation (including the informal sector) in consumer goods. We explore any aspect of the food value chain (supply, delivery & retail) to provide services from building factories to sales and marketing. This division covers largely food production, energy sales, and various fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).

Primary Agriculture Service (PAS)

This division assists in general technical engineering and farm design service. We organize soil & geotechnical surveys, and environmental assessments. On a limited scale, we venture into the sourcing of equipment and implements as well as other developmental aspects to assist farmers. We assist in business planning as well as early-stage sourcing of start-up finance.

Construction & Maintenance Service (CMS)

In this division, we offer a variety of services to assist the integration of smaller contractors into mainstream contracting. We assist in tendering, maintenance specifications, contract management, guarantee facilitation, site services, and general back-office support. Some of these services are offered as standalone (outsourcing) to clients even outside of the construction industry.

Engineering Professionals Network (EPN)

The company has access to several resources in the various disciplines that it transcends. Some of these resources, when not used in our projects, are offered through associations with other developers (or consultants) for involvement in other infrastructure projects throughout the world. It is our way of giving our staff broader experience, as well as the company’s exposure to a wider customer base.

Energy Consultancy (Solutions)

The Hub’s focus remains the development of infrastructure. We acknowledge however, that due to various factors like economic downturns or clients being start-ups, that investment in infrastructure gets delayed. Affordability aside, capital outlay deferral can be a major strategy in strengthening an entity’s operational cashflows, as well as a general boost of operational wellbeing.
We have extended our service in energy infrastructure investment to include extensive consultancy with the introduction of renewable energy supply options into a client’s energy mix. It is common these days that clients will augment their utility supplies with standby generator sets, as well as battery back-up systems to alleviate the impact of power cuts to their operations.
The Hub will evaluate how to introduce supply options with renewables whilst integrating the existing back-up system to result in substantial monthly savings on energy bills, at no additional cost to the client. The current proposals are aimed at commercial, industrial and large facility establishments with energy consumption exceeding 10 000 kWh per month. The client groups that can benefit the most from such proposals include:

Recent & Current Projects

Carbonated Soft Drinks (CSD)
This project involves the establishment of a complete soft drink beverage production system. The facility includes: PET bottle blowing, water purification, beverage mixing, bottle filling and associated test facilities. Completed product is crated and warehoused for shipping purposes.
Fuel Storage Facility
Despite Mozambique being endowed with enormous natural gas resources, it remains a net importer of oil and petrochemical products. This project involves the complete design and construction of a mixed petrochemical product storage facility. The project is categorized as ‘third party’ bunker service for Diesel (AGO), Unleaded Petrol (ULP), and bitumen. The facility will later accommodate natural gas (CNG) storage capability when the national gas development projects are complete.
Charcoal Production
This project involves recycling of invader plant species biomass into commercial charcoal brickettes for domestic use. Biomass will also include saw dust and straw, where such is available.
Addis Ababa Wastewater works
An associate consulting partner requested assistance with Electro-Mechanical expertise for their wastewater infrastructure contract in Addis Ababa. The secondment was for the contractor’s work audit & review, general supervision, and certification for an initial period of 18 months.
Bilene Beach Developments
The project entails the master planning and subsequent construction of a complete mixed-use beach resort development with:
  • Beach villas
  • Holiday suites
The mixed-use development is driven by the tourist boom currently experienced in this exclusive Indian Ocean enclave.
Atlantic Salmon Production
The project entails construction of an indoor industrial scale aquaculture production facility for farming Atlantic Salmon. Its production capacity is 5000 tons per annum, producing both Head on Gutted (HOG) and Fillet meat, for export purposes. The plant has various other significant economic spin offs e.g. edible oils, animal feeds and fertilizers (agriculture).
Coal Bed Methane Extraction (CBM)
This project is a special community driven initiative. It entails the development of community held farm areas within the greater Ermelo Coalfield, near Amersfoort (Mpumalanga). Methane gas adsorbed in the coal rock is extracted for energy purposes (Gas & Electricity). The project has further spinoffs as water produced from the CBM wells will be treated and reused for assisting in agriculture.
